Nah, it's the air inlet for the air injection system & blocking it should not harm anything, but blocking the holes in the inlet ports would probably be better as the four exhaust ports are connected through these ports & there will now no longer be cold air passing through them. I have no idea if there could be any long term disadvantages, although there are probably none.
