I'm a little surprised that a new 1200 master cylinder was not available, even if it needed to be ordered in.

I don't know that the five speed would be an advantage over the four speed manual here as the five speed is basicly a four speed, plus an overdrive ratio [unless you have the rare direct in fifth version] & it sounds like you will rarely, if ever, get it above third gear.
