Status report...

Saturday I basically got the whole swap done minus the wiring and clutch plumbing.

Sunday the clutch got setup and wiring done.

Wiring:

2 things had to be done.

Connect the backup lights. This is done by connecting the 2 red wires in the plug in the engine compartment that went to the Auto tranny to the backup switch on the manual.

Jumper across the black with yellow stripe wires. This removes the neutral/park saftey interlock so that you can start the car...

Pedals:

In a left hand drive car you need to get a clutch pedal. I cut down the metal plate on the auto brake pedal to look like a manual pedal. The clutch pedal will need a ~1" dogleg bent into it to move the bottom of the clutch pedal to the left.

I'm not sure if anything will need to be done to the pedals in a RHD car as the reference point, the right side of the car is in the same place... On the LHD cars everything if pushed to the left by the big transmission tunnel.

Rear crossmember:

All you need to do is turn around the rubber mount inside the automatic crossmember. This moves the crossmember forward about an inch and makes it line up with the mounts in the car. I figured this out after I had cut the corners of the crossmember to fit with the whole unit turned around. You will need to grind a clearence notch into the front of the rear crossmember to clear the spedo cable.

Need to find a spedo gear out of a 4 speed 1200 tranny. The B310 must have had higher gear ratios as my spedo is now way off. Before it was "optomistic". Now it just lies. Mileage is off by 5.8% and speed is of by 16.5%.

If the car was used just for autocross the 4 speed would be just fine. I wanted the 5 speed overdrive tranny for nicer high speed crusing.

Seems like the 0 to 30 mph is much faster now. Having the clutch and first gear makes all the difference in the world.

Did lots of driving around today. Lots of fun!
