It wasnt actually that bad for me, i got a full overhaul of both my carbs: acid bathed, re jetted, syncronised, new gaskets/seals, throttle shafts checked etc. and new brackets/linkages made up all for $250. I bought the carbs for $300 with manifold so its pretty good compared to plp selling a pair for over $500

If you ask your local good parts store they should be able to get in jets and gaskets for dellortos (what i have) webers etc.
