The only difference between a Datsun 1000 ute differential & any other Datsun 1000 differential is the ratio.
These all have an alloy carrier & are the H145 type. The Datsun 1200 passenger models used an iron diff carrier, H145 differential in 3.9 to 1 ratio

The 1000 Ute & Van used a 4.375 to 1 ratio as standard while the Sedans & Coupe used a 4.11 to 1 ratio.
There was an optional 4.625 to 1 ratio for the Van & Ute as well.
The axle shafts are the same for all.

What do you mean by a "better" differential? Do you want a stronger one, or a higher ratio one, or both, or,.....[other]?
