Well I'm still not getting oil up to the head when crankign my rebuilt engine with the starter. I just gave it a shot with a fresh battery. I must have turned it for at least a minute and got nothing. well except for smoke from the starter but no oil at the head.

the only other problem I can think of besides the oiler head bolt (which I have verified is installed in the correct location) is that the oil pick-up isn't installed or doesn't have a gasket. So what's the easiest way to pull the oil pan? Lift the engine or drop the suspension? My car is a '79 b310. I don't have an engine hoist handy but I can borrow one. I do have jackstands to rais the front end though.
thanks -michael
