the cat can go anywhere along the exhaust. up near the tray would be fine, aslong as it is secured tightley enough that its not goin to shake around.

my question is what year is your ute?
and does a ute that is pre-cat time with a post-cat engine need a cat or not?

im asking this because if your ute is old enough not to need one, i wouldnt bother with one. unless of course you need one for the new engine.
