Demojob - yeah thats where the issue lies - the ECU needs to know what the base timing is, to do this, you set the ECU timing to locked (this is as per the manual and the EMS staff), take the base timing using a timing light and then set the base timing in the EMS to be the same, however, this needs to be between 5 and 15 degrees BTDC for a nissan engine....

Cable_Tie - the CAS can be retarded, but not by a large amount from what i understand.

Thanks guys - all food for thought.

This is pissing me off, all I did was swap the engines, I kept the old wiring loom....
