well following this link: http://datsun1200.com/modules/newbb/v ... c_id=21972&forum=1#112027

It is now finally time to pull off the cylinder head. I wanted to buy a new CH but nissan SA seems to think there parts are made out of gold so not going that route. I tried every scrapyard in my area and they only have very dodgy CHs so Im gaving that a miss.

Phoned up a couple of places to get some on copper gaskets and they seem to charge just a tad too much for my wallet. So I figured 2 gaskets will have to do.

Phoned up the boys from master parts and asked for 2 gaskets and the bloke on the other side repleyed by asking if I wanted to lower my compression....he recommends that I use a shim with a gasket between the CH and the shim.

The one thing that I'm a bit conserned about is, the area between the block and the shim, isn't it better to put another gasket between the block and the shim or will it seal good well enough on its own or should I just add some sealent(gasket maker) between the block and shim?

TIA
