'I know there is a shorter S13 style box, was 3 times the price of my s13 box. SSS wanted $600 for it and $180 for a S13 box, back in the day. It too would come almost straight up the hole. I kind of wish I'd have gone for that, but was outside the budget back then...my project budget has stretched more every year it has been going on for.'

I'd prefer to have the shifter come out in the original position if possible, even if it costs considreably more- I just dont wanna muck around cuttting holes and moving the handbrake.
dattodude- this 'box you speak of- do you remember what it was called, cause it sounds like the ticket!
