if this clears anything up, I have had two engines rebuilt by and old customer of mine. I asked him what I had to do to run my A12 and A14 on unleaded, he said and I qoute unleaded still has lead in the fuel although at a lesser percentage than the old fuel he also said that alloy heads have steel inserts where the valve contacts now I cannot remember if he said hardended or not but I cant see them being mild steel. My advise is to run a tank of Premium and see how it goes then run a tank on regular unleaded with maybe and additive and then try a tank of normal unleaded, see how it goes. I had my A12 (freshly rebiult) running on normal unleaded with no hassles at all. Also bear in mind the carby was fully rebuilt and all the ignition parts were new also. cheers ade
