It's wrong because it works so well. i think we may start to see the lpg turbo as the next wave in tuner stuff, performance and cheap fuel.
I burn only LPG and the plan has always been to turbo. Why at a CR above 12:1 LPG makes more power than petrol ;) doing a turbo on most lpg systems is easy, I got a vaporizer that had a boost balance hookup knowing that it would be worth a few $ more.
I use OMVL and autronic equipment, variable venturi mixer, like SU carb, and a GA16 throttlebody with an adaptor to attach to the standard intake mani.
The car performs differently now, at least as good as petrol, but with some new features, like never pinging ever, LPG seems to be less efficient accelerating but more efficient cruising ... so 33mpg at 80mph is totally possible. holding 75-80 in 5 th gear on long grades is easy, frustrating petrol drivers of all sorts who bought 87 octane to save some $ I optomiozed for lower rpm operation, round port intake, since lpg mixes well at very low speeds, when turboed the plan will be to have the boost come on early and never need to take it over 6k. Not that you can't make a topend power setup, it's not where i need it.
I pay 1/2 what petrol costs now. Oil changes are 'optional' change the filter every 3k add oil if it burns any, change the oil when you feel guilty.
This engine has never been run on petrol since the last rebuild, so is totally clean inside.
Now all this fun and money saving doesn't some without some disadvantages...
people are afraid of LPG and its perceived nastyness finding fuel can be a challenge if you go on a trip Since you are in an LPG friendly country you have helps for mechanical work - here we're on our own. Service parts come from europe Unknown issues if you want to take the car to a autocross or other event, the octane will give you an advantage.
I need to post a video of getting on the highway to hear the sound it makes, it's a lovely noise when it opens up...
