Hey there everyone.

Just a query at this stage. I have just got my new wagon and am begining my big plans for this baby (i will be starting my own progress thread shortly).

It has a fairly well worked A14 in it at the moment and it will stay that way for a while but i have been researching long term mods and have a question.

I have been seriously considering a worked L20B conversion in this baby (l20b, balanced, ported, polished, cam, flat tops and twin su's/sidey's???, extractors and exhaust). My main question is with this set up what sort of diff would handle the power??? Obviously the current diff wouldn't cut it, and i am actually a bit worried about how it will handle the current a14 once it has been tuned and i have put my soon to be aquired GX head in it but that's a whole different story.

I was thinking a H165 ute diff just simply because of the ease of the conversion. My only query is will it be able to handle the tourque??? I'm not 100% what the L20B will end up putting out, i guess it will depend on my budget at the time, but does anyone know if it will generally do the job?

I have heard of doing the 120y/corolla diff conversion aswell but does this require the diff to be cut down and modified to fit? If so i think i would just end up going r31 skyline to get the lsd and rear disc brakes.

The other thing that worries me is what tailshaft would be required to make these sort of combinations work? I have heard a 180b tailshaft can be used with the trx box but what would be needed to fit it into the ute diff or 120y/corolla option? Anyone with experiences here?

I would prefer just to do the ute diff thing cause it will be easier, will fit my current tailshaft and will easily handle the current engine once i get it all tuned and the gx head in there. My only query is will this stack up with my long term plans? OR should i just go the larger diff conversion now to save me doing it again later down the track.

Thanks
Trav
