I'm running an R31 LSD, but if I was doing it over again I'd definitely consider using a Hilux diff.
R31 diff's are perfect except for 1 thing... They whine like buggery.
I problem I believe is to do with the ratio / no. of gear teeth.
From memory I think they're only a 9 tooth pinion, so the velocity of the pinion & crownwheel teeth with respect to each other Is quite high.... Once they start to whine, it's very difficult to get them to stop.
I've tried everything from varying grades of lapping paste to releiving all the gear teeth.
Still whines.
Would definitely look at options (inc. Hilux) if I was doing it again.
