i remeber something when reading up on flaring, with aluminium it does tend to split so you might be better of with the weld slag option on the outer pipe for the same purpose. Brass does something similar when flared too.

Also keep in mind only has to be a slight flare not huge so the pipe still stays on. but this may effect air flow ever so slightly if done incorrectly in theory creating turbulence of the air flow.
