Yes, they have a "Pull-a-part" here in WA. It's like $2 to get in, then fix prices for everything like $50 for transmission, $5 for smaller parts, etc. That's in Vancouver WA.

Closer to home we have some "Pick-a-part" places that are similar. Or maybe they are "Pull-a-part". Everybody has the same idea I guess.

My friend goes to one place in California where it is $25 for all you can carry in one trip ... if you can carry an engine with no help, it is only $25. Of course California, being a large country (34m) has the market for all kinds of sales ideas. Seattle metro area population is a bit smaller than Sydney metro area.
