I believe that factory engineers are very constrained by building a neat package that easily fits in the available space and to fit in with buget constraints rather than building the best manifold for all round performance..
I believe that you are absolutely right, in almost all of your observations. That those factory engineers did so well, not just with the induction, but with the whole line of 'B' series cars is a never ending source of wonderment to me.
For street use, all-round performance is where it's at & I personally think that they came up with the best available compromise, but for total performance, unblown, the factory EFI manifold sucks.
