There were three bonnet latches [the part that bolts to the radiator support pannel]
1200's had a habbit of having the bonnets fly open, which resulted in the infamous 'speed slots' above the hinges in the engine bay.
From 04/72 there were two part numbers, both of which replaced the older one.
The middle of the three part numbers was used only in 04/72.

The good part has a recess underneath where the 'hook' from the bonnet can catch into. Apparently the older one was flat under the catch plate & if the main catch released the bonnet, this safety hook could migrate across with the vibration & general shaking & allow the bonnet to fly open.

Make sure you have the newer type before doing any low flying, particularly with the 'good' bonnet in place.

Part Number 65610- H3100 .... from 05/72.
This is the newest number so is good for all the later Utes. Try to ensure that your top part is also from this later time frame as I believe that the shape of the hook was changed too.
