We mostly run 0 advance at idle. So be sure to disconnect the vacuum line and plug it while checking the timing at idle.

Factory specification is 5 to 10 degrees static timing at 600-750 RPM. With a high-PM cam you may need to idle faster, maybe as high as 1200 RPM.

Remember that above 550 RPM, mechanical advance starts in. See Distributor
