Its a run around.

You will need to submit a application to modify a vehicle to the technical section (pits in welshpool) Basically you need to detail all the mods done to the ute. (eg) engine, gearbox, suspension, brakes, fuel system etc.

BUT DONT BE TO SPECIFIC avoid specifying how things have been done. (eg) how engine cross member was modified.

They will they say you need a consulting engineer and give you a letter detailing what his report needs to address. Take this to the engineer and get him to sign off on it.

You can also work the other way and get the engineer to submit the application to the technical section and go about getting the mods legal.

I am doing the later at the moment. The engineer submitted a new application and is liasing with transport to get everything approved.

Started doing it all myself and just kept getting trapped in the red tape. May be more expensive to get engineer to do it but its worth it.

Also get as much info on the ute as you can, as you will need it. Specific partnumbers of components are a must. (eg) part numbers for struts, rotors, brake pads etc. You can get alot of this from websites as you can use replacement part numbers. But if you can get recipts for the work done its worth it. And any documentation on the original engineering process.

The WA laws are pretty tough at the moment but you can get around them.
