my point was that any engine has good and bad points and i don't have hatred for any of them. i loved my ca18det 1200 wagon, i love my sr20det 1600 and i love my 1000 wagon with a14 (soon to be efi quad throttle). You could definately fit a ca18det in a 1000, i trial fitted one and i've seen one for sale it can be done but requires some fab work. not that its the be all and end all as an efi a series turbo would have other advantages and be very cool.

one of the things i remember with the CA was make sure you take out the little brass (i think) plugs they have in the crank and replace them with grub screws. CA's are renowned for having spun bearings, sometimes due to losing oil pressure through these but that is often due to poor maintainence.
