Gav you might want to do the G/box tunnel larger for a future box upgrade as most people with this box have had problems with the first gear being useless
and also the box getting crunchy after some abuse. Some Sierra fellas have done the Mazda smooth case box from a RWD 929 which is a close ratio style box.

Also make sure you rip out all the sound deadening crap and vinyl on the sides you are sure to find surface rust
and go over it with a wire brush on your angle grinder. Finish it off with etch primer with rust inhibitor, Dynagrip spray on rubber coating
(its about the only stuff that you can spray on paint after wards) which also has rust inhibitor.
Make sure you wear protective gear and a mask as some of the original stuff has high lead content and maybe other nasties.

The brake setup is a Sigma Ge 78-80 using PBR calipers.
There are 3 way to do it using 120y/1200 discs, original sigma discs with centre hole enlarged or the best way
120y/1200 hubs machine for the 2mm smaller centre hole on Sigma discs.

Also be careful with metallic colors they can make the car look cheap compared to pastels on old retro cars.
Unless you spend big money most of the metallic colours end up very sad specially after 1 year of being sprayed.
Also chrome and alloy highlights match pastels much better.

The g13b has no competitors in power to weight in the 1300cc class.
For better clearance in a 1000 and lighter again the sohc 16v head once you get the right camshaft has bigger ports,
more meat in the ports, larger valves and lighter weight again.
These engines cant be used for racing in Datsun bodied cars but are the ultimate mass produced car engine for power to weight.
My old 2 door sedan has had the vitara 1.6 sohc version put in
and the new owner in the process of adding a turbo to it.
