Good effort Boof. Great to see someone willing to exercise the mind AND have a go and actually make it.
Max recommended angle for DCOEs (and maybe DHLAs?) is 7 deg. so you are probably near enough. These carbs are meant to run with the throttle shaft parallel to the direction of travel. Plenty of people get away with not doing this but sometimes they stall when stopping hard. 45 deg angle may be OK?
Unequal runner lengths may give you a broader torque band but for a tradeoff in maximum torque.
My main concern would be the large relatively cool surface area of the manifold that may need a richer mixture to keep it running cleanly. Not a problem when youre into it and everthing is good and hot though. If it runs OK during warmup then maybe a lean off and connect up the choke mechanism could help?
Where is the throttle connection on the carb?
