Thanks again. Anyways, I bought new plugs for it and set the gap at 1.0mm (0.040"). It currently has a Bosch GT40R coil (still with ballast resistor), and is now running beautifully with timing just set by ear at present, as my mate still has my timing light.

As for my tacho, I still need to re-wire it, but that can wait for night time as it's about 45 degrees outside still. Damn this heatwave!! I could be working on my datto instead of farting around with my netbook!
