Yes, if you consider having to foot the throttle first few minutes as 'running fine'. I prefer to pump the pedal, twist the key and let it run itself.

My twin-sidedrafts have no choke. It starts OK. In cold weather I have to pump it extra. If I give it enough throttle it'll start up and not die. Too much throttle, whoops, don't want to rev it over 2000 RPM for the first 10 seconds...

32/36 doesn't need linkage for electric choke. Just remove the water choke, and put a Datsun, Ford or Weber electric choke (un-modified) on it. Wire it to the coil. Done.
