the noise is the motor pinging/detenating from the oil that it is burning,
loss of power,take foot off a little noise goes away,power back.
find cause of pinging.oil burning,incorect timing/advance,fuel mixtures,
compession,carbon buildup. i would say by wot u say it needs rebuilding.
