Ok so the F stands for Field and the N for neutral.. the s and l or your alternator could possibly stand for signal and load... check with a multimeter the voltage on the white/black wire.. that is you regulator to + bat terminal wire.. the yellow is the wire that goes to the gauge. so in saying that i would connect via option 1.. hope that helps
