I think you'll find the "S" on the grille is just for Sunny.
Just like all the other 70s B110/210 variants in Japan.

This style is certainly a desirable grille for Aussie 120Y owners.

I'm not a 120Y expert, but I thought the SSS 1200 and 120Y was a NZ specific thing?

This guy disproves the SSS 120Y having the JDM grille (as photo was taken when car was new):
