Yeah I bought aftermarket lights for a 1980 model ute I
had awhile back and the plugs didn't match those on the
cars wiring loom so had to cutoff the plugs from the original tailight housing and splice them on to the new lights.
If your original housings are in good nick I'd just swap
the lenses over as the taiwanese housings are a bit rough
and use self tappers instead of bolts to hold the lenses on. They also seem to leave some gaps around where the lense should seal to the housing.

P.S> I did hear from someone else that they bought aftermarket taillights and the plugs matched up so might
depend on the year? Hopefully your lucky.
