Yes, the resistor is 1.3 ohms, so if put inline, no coil will be able to burn it out.

Stock 1200 coil (points-type): 1.17 to 1.43 ohms
Stock 1200 balast resistor: 1.3 to 1.7 ohms
Stock B310 electronic coil: 0.84-1.02 ohms (high energy)
