How long was the car sitting before you tried to fire it up? Is the gas any good? Did you try putting some fuel down the barrel and give the engine a turn?
Try plugging off all of the vacuum inlets on the carb and manifold, disconnect the fuel line, put a little premium unleaded in the primary and fire it up. If it goes, reconnect the fuel line to the carb and put a line directly from the fuel pump into a freshly filled gas can and fire it up again (you will have to primer it up a little, turn the engine for a few moments and than wait about 30 sec). If that works look at your line going back to the tank as a possible problem. Who ever owned it before you probably had the same problem being that he attempted to rebuild the carb. If it fires with a little gas but not from the can, disconnect the line after the fuel pump and securely put it into a glass jar (poke a hole in the metal lid for the line)and see if you get the proper amount of fuel from the pump. If that looks good than I would suspect a problem with you weber.
