I see your point,
But using the standard tunnel has been done before by quite a few members.
The other thing to be wary of is engineers. I didn't approach my build as a 'tight ass', but my engineer really didn't want me to cut the tunnel out.
Yes, I know that has been done a thousand times too, and there are countless cars out there with it done that are engineered - But he's the one signing off on it.
So, Who am I to argue?

By the sound of it, it's probably more to do with the angle of the motor and gearbox placement.

If it is a maddat X-member give them a call, they've always been helpful with me.
