Ive done a fair bit of it. We used a wooden padle and warm it up using a lpg torch then rubbed it on bees wax to help move the lead around. I think we used to use 60/40 lead.
We would tin the panel first using a tinning compound and spread it using the lpg torch and steel wool.

Those were the days!

How are you going with it?
