Yeah that's a good un'. Whitesedan and I were talking this over just the other day as he borrowed my sytec top mount setup (magard style) and used that sort of bridging linkage with a balancing screw between the two.
He insisted that it can be made out of a couple of stock hitachi carbs, I completely forgot about this. I'll give that a go and ditch the second arm.
I'd like to try Webers and Dellortoes one day just to get to the bottom of which is best.
For Solex/Mikuni's, I like the;
- Built in vacuum feed lines, easy to route to dizzie could be used for synchronizing(?)
- Plastic fuel bowl floats- less likely to break, cheaper to replace.
- Facet pump design easily adjustable - split pin & 3 holes on the end of the connecting rod for macro adjustment + threaded connecting rod for micro adjustment.
- Starter disc/cold start mechanism; these are located on top of the carb secured by a circlip/e-clip and can be easily checked whislt carbs are fixed.
What I don't like;
No access cover over the progression holes, subsequently the carbs have to be removed to inspect them.
Pain in the arse to tune.
Parts are difficult to source, I resort to a US supplier.
