Round 2 saw the idle speed go down a bit, took about 5 mins to warm up to thermostat open this time, checked the timing, it seemed to be sitting on 15*, I'll check this when I do the dwell angle/idle speed/fuel mixture tune tomorrow, I extended the wiring for the coil, as it was wired for a front dizzy, so I had to extend it so I could see my water temp guage work.
It seemed to sit just over the warm mark on the gauge, now I am not completely sure if the gauge stopped working when it got there as after testing the clutch adjustment I came back and it was back to the cold mark, noting that to get the fuel gauge moving I gave it the good old hard tap on the dash. So I am unsure if the gauge really only read just above warm, it could have failed when I was flicking the dash.
The light's, alternator/electrical system proved to be working quite well, the clutch seems to disengage well, but it picks up right off the floor, in previous cars I loved this adjustment, but not having driven in over 6 months I was a little unused to it, will test this out a bit while driving to get the feel again.
The other issue I could find was the idling, While i got it to idle a bit lower by adjusting the throttle cable bracket, I does not always seem to return right to the idle screw (nothing is preventing it, just the springs seem a little soft), so I may investigate into extending the distance of the springs.
Otherwise bar running it out of fuel I am quite impressed in how smoothely the motor runs :).
