It can be 180 out, no problem. Just move the wires 180 degrees to match.

When fitting a late distributor into early A12 engine (or vice-versa), don't worry about the actual position. What is important is the relative timing: Put lead #1 on the terminal the rotor is pointing to when timing mark is at TDC on the compression stroke.
