There are some nice conversions out there

Sykine the Volvo rear end would need the De Dion tube modded to
suit a fwd like setup on the rear or if room allowed as you
say north south but on the back seat and just a short tailshaft
to the fixed diff and cv joints.
how about using a modified transfer case for the reverse and
a starter motor on the auxilary?
