Getting back towards the topic at hand, I think that one very positive aspect over looked so far with doing a bike engine conversion is not only do you get a very nice engine with a broad power band (assuming the busa), a major weight loss, but you also get a very good fast shifting close ratio transmission.

The sequential close ratio tranny is one of the major draws for me. Having got to spend some time in my brothers race car with the busa 1300 for power and an electric shifter things just don't get any better. His race car is a busa powered F500 used for autocross. For those of you not familiar with the F500, it is a low cost formula car that was originally powered by a 500CC 2 stroke snow mobile engine. Weight is 900# (408KG) including the driver and has 154WHP. The car is set up with paddle shifters and the upshifts are 80ms. That's .08 seconds per shift.

The only trannys that come close to the busa tranny are the custom built by the late Dan Hall that puts the internals of a Hewland Mk9 in a Datsun 60 series box. One of these will set you back about the same price as a complete busa setup.
