ddgonzal, thanks for the tips.
I made up a little jig for the valve itself to simulate the situation when fitted in the bowl.
It has a little resevoir on top. On filling the reservoir it remained full. As soon as I hit the pin it started to drain away. So that demonstrates that the valve is good.
As to the plunger I notice it is very dry and suspect that it is sticking/ jamming.Have lubricated it has much better action now.
Oddly, there is a hole drilled into the side of the chamber above the piston that "vents" into the air horn on the secondary side. By pushing the plunger in a little bit to simulate rest position, it is very difficult to draw the plunger up, however if I block that vent hole it draws up well.
I am very surprised to see that "vent". Is this usual? Strikes me as very odd in fact. Any comments?
