Even if you get KYB aftermarket shock, like KYB 2 gas shocks, they will have heavier damping.

At least I think. This is certainly true for Datsun 1200. Last month I removed my Monroe's and went back to the original KYBs which ride smoother and have less bounce (with stock springs).
