@Benny - you must remember these are race engines, where because of the cam the power band has been moved WAY beyond where you or I would be driving the engine, huge valves, amazingly worked head, the high lift and LONG duration cams (in this case as much as 310* and more) the power band is prob from 6500-9000+rpm, when they shift (e.g. from 2-3) the revs would drop about 3000 rpm, putting them back in that sweet spot, and having an extra 1000 revs for down shifts and holding that gear into the last hair pin in tskuba is priceless :)
