So, fast forward to August 2008, I was having a lazy surf on the web at afternoon tea as you do at work, and jumped on to trademe, and what do I see but a stock standard 1200 Sedan, Mikan orange, 100% complete, owned by a Nana, that had had a wee smack in the back corner and written off. $500 buy now! woo - hoo hit the button immediately on the auction. Paid the price with the wife later..... thought that I could pull the punt out, tidy it up, and recomply it, for a couple of K and be rolling in the summer. Unfortunately I got carried away, and after the required panel repairs, we threw on new guards, had all the rust cut out and patched, and resprayed it all. Some new wheels, and some chrome and bits, new carpet, new window rubbers, door seals, serviced the motor, etc etc Unfortunately the wee "in between" project ended up costing me about 8K to get up and running, but I had it tidied up and on the road in 10 weeks, to make our annual NZdatsun Cruise to Akaroa!
