As a rule, on most or nearly all old jap tappets, adjustment should be done hot. Inlet @ 0.010" (0.25mm) and exhaust @ 0.012" (0.3mm). The exhaust needs a little more as it gets hotter than the inlet due to the exhaust gasses passing over it.

These settings are valid for L series also.
