Sorry, just realised the idler has the hole and the draglink has the taper pin, so hit the idler arm bang on the end where the pin goes through it.

You leave the nut on to protect the thread should you accidently hit it or slip with your aim

basically you are trying to break the taper fit of the pin and the idler, the shock does this without damaging the rubber etc.
