Ive spent some track time in a 260Z, a 1600 and now an 1200 coupe.

The Z was sure footed and stable at speed. The 1200 is much more nimble and better under brakes(easier to pass under brakes). But feels a little uneasy/light at speed(over 200kmh). The rear end doesnt feel as positive(taking set) as the Z, this might be because im not running a watts link or panhard bar on the 1200.

Im loving the 1200 on the track. Im still trying to get the suspension right on my car, but im confident the 1200 is a great platform. This is mainly because of its light weight. I thought it best not to take away from its best attribute by puting in a heavy engine, gearbox and diff.
Saying that, others have had great sucsess with bigger engines etc. At some point there has to be a compromise on weight to get more power.

Lower the car, ensuring at least 2" front and 3" rear bump travel(shoter struts or raised strut tops). Put spacers between the struts and the steering arms to ensure the lower control arms are slightly lower on the outside after lowering.
Widen the car, redrill lower control arm mount holes or lengthen the arms.
3 or 4 degrees caster and 3 or 4 deg neg camber. .5 deg neg camber on the diff and about 3mm toe in on the diff.
The 120y front sway bar works well for me and is a cheap upgrade.
I have a small rear swaybar that i use to help adjust the understeer/oversteer balance but its probably not required.

There would be heaps more others could add aswell.
