Hi guys, firstly I will mention that I am a complete newbie when it comes to cars, turbo cars in particular :( so it looks like im going to have a huge learning curve infront of me. I am mechanically minded as far as motorbikes are concerned I can strip a bike down to the frame and rebuild it no trouble, but I am just getting into modified cars. I figured a older car like the datto ute would be a firly straight forward project car. Body work I can do I have a old corolla which I am doing a bare metal respray on and sofar so good, but like I said am a bit lost with turbo cars, I did consider putting a N/A engine into the ute which would obviously be alot easier and cheaper but I really want a turbo.
So I have spent the last few days looking into what I would need and what needs to be done to the ute, so im hopeing that if I make a list of what I have found some of you nice experts may fill in the gaps to what I have missed out. I decided to go for the CA18DET because it looks like a popular engine choice so im thinking their should be plently of info regarding them. Here goes, Engine & Box Engine mount kit (Maddat) Turbo & turbo manifold Will need to get some exhaust work done Waste gate ?? Oil catch can?? Boost controller Oil cooler?? Intercooler Computer Need to get wireing loom modified for computer (Maddat) Need to get trans tunnel modified as mines a manual (maddat maybe) I should also imagine that im going to have to move the battery to the back of the ute. Also expect I will have to do somthing with the air filter
The ??? marks are for things that I think I might need but not sure of. Also going to do some suspention work but I will wait until I have the CA18DET into it to allow for the extra weight. I think thats about if for now guys, have I missed anything out? Thanks Andy
