To polish any alloy I would not touch it with sand paper.you will never remove all the paper scratches.you need brown wax to cut everything back then white then green wax for final finish.but you also need the proper wheels to go with each wax .and no you can't polish mild steel but yes the alloy and stainless waxes are the same
