The carburetor flooded? That means fuel runs out the top and down in the throats. Is that what happened? At teh same time the fuel level will rise in the fuel bowl and will be seen in the sight glass.

Flooding indicates that the needle-and-seat valve is not correctly installed or needs replacement. That type of carburetor pictured uses a spacer on the float pivot, perhaps it is missing (common problem after putting a "kit" in).
