agreed, they stem seals are probable. the trouble can be isolated by measuring compression. -remove ALL of the spark plugs, open throttle ( ground the coil lead) set brake and put transmission in neutral.
- screw compression gauge into spark plug hole - crank so the piston pumps 5 strokes and read the gauge. then repeat on the other 3 cylinders
If compresion is low( under 120psi) squirt some oil into the spark plug holes and compare readings. If low compresion goes up the rings are leaking. if it does not, the valves are leaking.
If the compression is good the valve stem seals are highly suspect ps: wipe the oil off your lady friend's car.
