Helmets that meet AS1698, for CAMS purposes, are classifed as having a lower fire protection level and usually require you to wear a fireproof balaclava underneath. This combo is allowed in most forms of motorsport in Australia.
Check the CAMS Schedule D it contains all the info you need regarding apparel.
